  1. Keukenhof Castle

    We recommend checking out the gardens at Keukenhof Castle on your next trip to Holland. You’ll be able to see some of the best examples of this iconic flower in all its glory!

    During the Holland Dahlia Event (in early September), there are several show gardens featuring the most beautiful Dahlias. Of course, the beautiful castle in the background of the show gardens is also worth a visit! Unfortunately, the castle is not open to the public. 

  2. Tulperij show- and picking garden

    At Tulperij, you’re welcome to pick your own Dahlia bouquet. Daan and Anja (the owners) have a huge variety of petals and colors, so there’s bound to be something that suits you! It’s a great way to spend an afternoon, and it’s even better when you’re with someone who loves flowers as much as you do! After picking out the most beautiful Dahlia for your bouquet, you can sit down and enjoy a cup of coffee with a Dutch treat at the cosy flower greenhouse.

  3. Dahlia Flower parade Sint Jansklooster and Giethoorn

    Have you ever wondered what it would be like to walk down a flower-filled street in the middle of summer? Well, Sint Jansklooster is the place for you! This Dutch village is only 1.5 hours away from Amsterdam, and it’s home to an amazing flower parade every third Friday and Saturday of August. The streets are lined with all colors of dahlias, and during the festival, everyone can enjoy them from their homes or from a cafe on the street.

Dahlia tubers are planted in late spring. The best time to see Dahlia’s in the Netherlands are in late August and early September. This is also when the weather is best. But remember to bring a raincoat in September for the occasional rain!
